Design competition open to community groups

Date published: 13 October 2017

Right opportunities, a social enterprise specialising in work related learning opportunities, has teamed up with Oldham Borough Council and the Friends of Dunwood Park to fund the design of a new tree sculpture to represent ‘peace’ in Dunwood Park in Shaw.

Feedback/ideas from a local consultation will be the starting point for the design.

They are now looking for young people (either groups or individuals) to come up with a design.

The winning design will be turned in to the final sculpture and will receive a prize.

A spokesperson said: "The young people will gain lots of arts industry experience and get the opportunity to work with an artist throughout the design process and the project can be tailored to your groups needs.

"A judging panel of designers, artists and local councillors will chose the winning design that will be awarded a cash/voucher prize. The winning design can come from a group or an individual and your community group can choose how you want to submit your entry.

"The next top 50 designs chosen will be exhibited publically in Oldham in spring/summer 2018 and they are looking at displaying them in Gallery Oldham and around the town centre."
