PRIZE TIME: Ian Grimsditch of Stamford Golf Club ('A' league), Howard Lawton of North Manchester (Brian Atack Trophy), Carl Murphy of Blackley ('B' league), Brookdale Golf Club captain Doug Unsworth and Paul Keogh of North Manchester 'A' Knock-out Cup).
NORTH Manchester won the Brian Atack team tournament in a thrilling end to the Oldham and District Golf League season.
With the best three Stableford scores to count on a testing wet and windy Brookdale course, three clubs were tied on 116 as the last few groups came to the 18th.
Denton (41+38+37) looked to have edged Crompton and Royton (39+39+38) and Stamford (41+38+37) on a card play-off to retain the trophy when North Manchester's last score was an equal-best of the day 43 to boost their tally to 117 (43+37+37).
The 43 of K Ackers and M Philburn was only enough for second place in the pairs event as they lost on a card play-off to Castle Hawk 'B' team captain Tony Proctor and partner Terry Walsh.
The minor placings were - 3, M Heywood and P Aspinall (Oldham) 42; 4, J King and S Warrender (Denton) 41 CPO; 5, C Ackers and D Fox (Stamford) 42.
Longest Drive @2nd: N Wylie (C&R). Nearest pin @17th: J Hughes (Brookdale).
The event also acted as the league's annual presentation with North Manchester also claiming the 'A' team Knock-Out Cup.
Stamford 'A' won the 'A' league title, Blackley the 'B' league and Ashton the 'B' Knock-out Cup.
