ONE of the most devious characters on television in the 1970s and 80s, 'JR' ruled the roost at Southfork, home of the TV hit series 'Dallas'.
As slippery as the stuff he valued most, the scheming oil magnate didn't let no-one stand in his way if there was a chance of making a quick million dollars or two.
Heyside have got their very own 'JR' - not Ewing - but Jon-Ross Campbell, and the only thing that he rides slipshod over are the luckless bowlers.
The West Indian bludgeoned an unbeaten 85 from 62 balls as Heyside knocked Stayley off the summit in the JW Lees Brewery Pennine Cricket League Championship.
Campbell was ruthless. No bowler was safe as he crashed five sixes and nine fours at Millbrook. He was dropped twice, but neither escape curbed his attacking intentions.
Stayley's total of 115 was nowhere near enough with 'JR' in this mood as victory was secured in the 19th over.
The home side experienced a mid-innings collapse. From a position of relative comfort at 53 for two, they collapsed to 68 for seven. Scott Bloor took three wickets in four balls, including that of paid man Hamza Nadeem and overseas amateur Kenroy Williams.
There was much relief at Reyner Lane as visitors Oldham got off the mark for season with a 36-runs defeat of hosts Ashton.
Uppermill piled up 274 for seven at home to Micklehurst, with former skippers Matt Taylor and Mark Berry making 68 and 47 respectively.
The Castle Lane club managed 114 in reply as overseas amateur Girvacques De Jager took five for 13.
Hollinwood slipped to the bottom of the table after a five-wicket loss at Werneth, while Milnrow are the new leaders after overcoming Friarmere by 85 runs at Slack Lane.
Shaw did well to restrict Moorside to 139 at Holebottom Clough. However, the hosts could only manage 120 in reply.
