FAILSWORTH'S Danny Wright is still on a high and expects to emerge successful as he heads to Scotland to compete in the GB Elite Boxing Championship.

The prestigious Tri-Nation tournament - which also features Scottish and Welsh fighters - comes barely a month after Wright heroically triumphed in the 64kg category at the England Boxing Elite Championships at the Echo Arena in Liverpool.

To say he's confident would be something of an understatement as Wright prepares for the action at the Alhambra Centre in Dunfermline tonight and tomorrow.

Twenty-year-old Wright, who trains under the tutelage of Ben Lancaster at Ben's Old School Boxing Gym in Middleton, said: "I'm really looking forward to the weekend. I still feel great after the win in Liverpool.

"I didn't really take much time off after that. I was straight back into the gym for training and right now I feel great.

"I won a gold medal at the 2013 Tri-Nations, so I am looking to win it again this year.

"I went to a preparation camp with the other England lads in Sheffield last week and that went brilliantly."

Oldham's other England Boxing king - 52kg star Will Cawley (pictured, inset) - was forced to pull out of the GB tournament in Scotland after picking up a bad cut en route to glory in Liverpool earlier this month.

The 18-year-old is hoping for a Great Britain squad call-up soon once his injury has healed.
