WATERHEAD Warriors are off and running in Division Three of the Kingstone Press National Conference League.
Dave Orwell's side broke their duck at the seventh time of asking thanks to a 34-30 win at home to Rylands Sharks.
Warriors produced a strong first-half performance - they held a 28-0 lead at the break - before surviving a Sharks fightback after Jack Pemberton was sent off for alleged punching.
Jamie Mayall, Ciaran Dean, Martin Sarsfield, Mitchell Birch, Luke Du Feu and Alec Jobson went in for the Peach Road outfit, while Mayall kicked five goals for a personal points tally of 14.
Gavin Conroy notched a hat-trick of tries for the visitors, with Matt Taylor and Dave Walker also going in. Jack Lewis kicked five conversions.
Sharks had Stu Shaw sent to the sin-bin with 10 minutes remaining.
In Division One of the NCL, Saddleworth Rangers climbed up to fourth place after a 14-0 victory over Salford City Roosters at a damp Shaw Hall Bank Road.
Rangers overcame the sin-binning of Matt Bottom to lead 10-0 at half-time, thanks to Oli Kerr's brace of tries and Michael Diveney's goal.
Jack Holden added to the home side's tally in the second period.
THE NCL Division Three match between Drighlington and Oldham St Anne's was abandoned after 15 minutes because of a neck injury to home player Tom Moorby.
Drighlington were leading 6-4 at the time of the incident.
