NEED FOR SPEED . . . Lee Ewbank on his bike.
LEE Ewbank is bidding to make a big impact in the Thundersport GB championship this year - once he's got over the injury from being knocked off his bike.
Shaw speedster Ewbank (31) made a great start to this year's national race series at the famous Donnington Park circuit, securing three podium finishes out of four races across the space of a weekend.
However, things didn't go quite as planned next time out for the vehicle damage assessor who has been motorbike crazy since an early age.
SUCCESSFUL
Ewbank said: "We were really looking forward to another successful weekend at Snetterton in the second round of the championship.
"I got caught up in a crash, though, and I broke my foot.
"It was painful, but I'm well on the road to recovery now."
Ewbank, and his 1,000cc Yamaha R1, 200 bhp bike, hope to return to the track on this Saturday, when the Thundersport roadshow rolls into Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire.
Former moto-cross fan and road biker Ewbank said: "We've moved up into the bigger bike class this year, but we've started the year encouragingly. We have shown our intentions for the year ahead.
"It's a huge learning curve for us, though.
"Everything has changed in terms of the other bikes you're up against and the competition."
Keep in touch with Ewbank's exciting progress by checking out his team's dedicated Facebook page - 'WeR1Racing'.
Meanwhile, motorbike racing is an expensive sport and Ewbank is always on the lookout for new sponsors.
