ANGLING: HEADING into the final round of the Shaw Angling Club Winter League campaign on Ram Mill Lodge, Bill Mayo, Dave White and Anthony Wood-Davis all fought for the glory.
But Wood-Davis was the worthy winner as he clinched top prize with two wins and two seconds giving him six points. The angler,, from Tight Lines, Shaw, fished maggot up in the water at 14 metres to catch 14lb 7oz of roach, chub and f1s.
Dave Ireland (Tight Lines) was second with 11lb 6oz net of roach and ide taken on chopped worm and caster fished on the deck at 13 metres.
MICHAEL McCabe was the winner of the Shaw AC knock-up on Partridge Fisheries’ Ribbon Lake, with dobbed bread used half depth across netting him 38lb 4oz of mostly carp.
That haul eased Stephen Mills into second with a mostly pellet-tempted 23lb 13oz.
BRIAN Hilton has a good record in the Northern AA open matches on local canals, and he added to it with another win in the latest clash on a rock-hard Rochdale The Boarshaw length was fished and everyone seemed in for a good day until heavy rain and freezing water entering the canal ruined the fishing. Just one skimmer weighing 1lb 13oz took the top spot.
Second-placed Alan Price (Tight Lines) has just come back on to the match scene this year after a long break, and proved he’s not lost it with a skimmer weighing 1lb 9oz 8drams caught on bread punch.
GEOFFREY Carr took first place in the Twingate AC OAPs match fished on the club water in horrendous conditions. His three ide, skimmers, f1s and carp taken on maggot added up to 9lb 5oz.
Peter Hill took second place with 5lb 10oz.
