Tim’s back in the fast lane at long last

AFTER a break of almost two decades, Uppermill speedster Tim Simpson has decided to have another crack at the exciting world of scooter racing.

Simpson, now 48, first took up small-wheel racing back in the early 1990s, his personal highlight being British Lambretta Club champion in 1996.

In the autumn of 1998 Simpson – a photographer - brought the curtain down on six years of racing, but now he’s back.

This weekend will see him in action at the Mallory Park circuit in Leicestershire as he features in the first British Scooter Sport Organisation Championship meeting of 2016, and Simpson can’t wait.

Recent practice days at Mallory have proved hugely encouraging for his TSP Racing team – which includes owner Dave Taylor and mechanic Steve Booth – and confidence is high.

“It’s been just brilliant to be back on the track again,” said Simpson. “The enthusiasm for racing has never left me. Something has been eating away at me for a while to get back into action again, and now here I am. It felt like I had unfinished business.”

“Everything is going well so far. We’ve secured some sponsorship, and I feel fitter than I did the fist time around, so the focus is on giving it a real go at Mallory this weekend now.”
