Diggle registered an amazing 10-0 victory over Holmfirth Town in Division One of the Huddersfield and District League.
The incredible scoreline reignites Diggle’s bid for a top-half finish. Holmfirth arrived at Churchill playing fields with only four points from 17 games. Diggle added to their pain, with Rob Flynn (three), Keiron Mayall (three), Nik Lishman (two) and Gareth Chew (two) on target.
Heyside, showing signs of fatigue after their midweek semi-final Barlow Cup triumph, lost their first home league game since Geoff Howard took over at the start of last season as Berry Brow returned to Huddersfield clutching a 2-1 victory.
Jordan Hindley, Mark Hopwood and James Leonard spurned good chances for title-challengers Heyside in a goalless first half.
Hindley had to go off after 20 minutes because of injury and Hopwood was also replaced later on in the game after pulling up sharply in the penalty area.
Berry Brow went ahead on the hour, and in a desperate bid to get something from the contest, Howard put defender Josh Briddon up front. The switch paid off as he as volleyed home Gary Molyneaux’s cross late on. With only seconds remaining, Berry Brow stunned Heyside with a close-range winner.
