A SELECTION of Oldham Sunday League big guns made progress in the Challenge Cup.

Reigning champions Rifle are through to the fourth round after they saw off Britannia 4-1.

Lee Mallitt and Nathan Eastmond bagged a brace apiece for Rifle, while Adam Ruddock replied.

Coppice United defeated Westwood 2-0 thanks to strikes from Shabir Ali and Shez Rashid.

Limeside King George saw off Crown FC 3-1, with Liam Cashmore (two) and Wayne Ware on target.

In a cup second round replay, Fitton Hill marched to an impressive 5-0 win at Oldham Lions courtesy of goals from Ashley Ainsworth (three) and Kion Pryce (two).

One Martin Buckley Division Two Shield tie took place, with Horseshoe hammering Oldham XI 7-0.

Daniel Jackson (two), Lewis Fitton (two), Nathan Maznechenko (two) and Callum Maznechenko were the marksmen.

In David Giblin Division One action, Royton Athletic cruised to a 7-2 victory at Old Skool as Jamie Clark (two), John Leech, Paul Mullen, Kieron Dad, Niall Yates and Kelvin Stevenson were on target.

Legends of Lees were forced to postpone their match against FC Failsworth as they couldn’t raise a team, while the game between Alt Athletic and Manchester Swifts was abandoned with the score at 1-1 as the referee felt both sets of players were over-questioning decisions and generally not showing the level of respect required. A report will be sent to the Manchester County FA and they will decide whether to take the matter further.
