Angling: OLDHAM angler Ian Alexandra took first place in round two of the DSP Ltd spring series on the upper pound length of the Sankey Canal.
Using pole and caster, he caught 5lb 3oz of perch and roach. Runner-up Mark van den Hoek opted for an identical approach as he also tempted roach and perch in a 3lb 2oz net.
MARTIN Taylor, of Halifax Matrix, impressed in the latest Saltaire open match on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.
Using bread punch, he attracted small roach, before a switch to pinkie and caster late on netted some better fish for a match-winning 4lb 2oz.
Taylor’s travelling partner and fellow Oldham angler Paul Booth (Halifax Matrix) was also among the small roach.
He went long and short on bread punch and switched to pinkie and caster for a few better samples in a second-best 2lb 15oz.
STOCKING takes place on Todmorden AS’s stillwater waters on Friday, April 1 and Monday, April 4, with carp to 10lb going in. To allow the fish settle in, keepnets will be banned on the club’s stillwaters from April 1 to May 4 inclusive.
THE final round of the Shaw Angling Club winter league is on Sunday, April 3.
ENVIRONMENT Agency licences expire on March 31. They can be obtained from local post offices or on line.
