MOSSLEY joint-boss Peter Band hasn’t given up hope of reaching the Evo-Stik League Division One North play-offs.

The Lilywhites are 10 points shy of the top five following Tuesday’s 4-1 defeat at Spennymoor Town, their third loss in a row.

But Band is determined to remain positive, despite the promotion odds being stacked against his team.

Band said: “Maybe our luck has run out now, but until it’s mathematically impossible to get into the play-off positions, we’ll keep fighting.

“Schoolboy errors are costing us dearly. Last Saturday at Ossett we played brilliantly for 60 minutes and were 3-1 up and coasting. Individual mistakes allow the opposition to score goals at bad times and we ended up losing that game 4-3.

“It was similar in midweek at Spennymoor. We were winning early on and they hardly had a kick of the ball in the early stages, but we were giving goals away too easily and were well beaten in the end.

“Me and Lloyd (Morrison, joint manager) don’t want the season to just fizzle out.

“We’ve got the Manchester Premier Cup final to look forward to at the end of April, but we’re also not giving up hope of the play-offs. At least we’re creating chances. But while we’re missing four or five chances before converting one, opposition teams are finishing off theirs straight away.”

The Lilywhites head to play-off chasing rivals Farsley Celtic tomorrow.

CHADDERTON – boosted by their midweek win at Bacup Borough – are without a fixture tomorrow.

They return to North-West Counties League First Division action on Wednesday when they travel to Litherland REMYCA.
