SNOOKER: WITH four games to go in the Hollands Pies Oldham Amateur Snooker League, Deaf ‘C’ hold a slender one-point lead over North Chadd ‘B’.
The table-toppers picked up a hard-earned four points at Deaf ‘A’ in their latest match. Despite a break of 31, Martin Merrington was unable to claim frame three against the ‘A’ team’s G Winterbottom.
But S Clarke’s break of 32 clinched the final frame and kept his side at the summit.
With North Chadd ‘B’ also recording a 4-2 victory, aided by a break of 31 from D Balcerzak, they remain in contention for the title.
In the cards section, St Paul’s are the team to catch with a four-point lead over North Chadd ‘B’.
There is still 16 points left to play for, though, so top honours are still up for grabs.
REIGNING champions Tara ‘B’ are making a late bid to hold on to their Saw-Tech Snooker League title.
They stepped up a gear with impressive 6-0 and 5-1 wins over Queen Street and Cricket respectively.
Tara, for whom Russ Tobin knocked in a 51 break against Cricket, are three points adrift of long-time leaders Comrades ‘A’.
