MOSSLEY may have endured a number of frustrating postponements of late, but it’s not all doom and gloom.

The Lilywhites were snowed off at the weekend but as the team starts to finalise preparations for tomorrow’s trip to play-off chasers Ossett Albion, joint-boss Peter Band remains positive.

“To be honest it’s not worked out too badly for us this last few weeks. We have dropped to 11th place, but only four points away from the play-offs. Others around us seem to have been losing or drawing.

“Not many teams have got games in hand on us now, and it’s really tight up near the top of the table.”

Albion are currently in sixth position, only outside the top five on goal difference yet just four points ahead of Mossley.

The Lilywhites have done well against Albion in recent seasons. Band added: “We drew 0-0 at home against them earlier this season, but we had the better of it.

“Last season we beat them 3-0 and drew away, so we’ll go there with confidence.

Defender Caldon Henson should return to the Mossley squad after missing three weeks through injury.

Striker Dougie Carroll is still out. Meanwhile Mossley have signed former Ashton United and Abbey Hey defender Kirk Jones.

CHADDERTON will hope to get some action in tomorrow after back-to-back postponements in the North-West Counties League First Division. The inconsistent Andrew Street outfit are set to host second-placed Irlam, who are gunning for automatic promotion.
