Mitchell’s red-hot run continues

Angling: WINNER of the Diggle AC winter league Graham Mitchell continued his good run of form in their latest club match on Bradshaw number six lake.
The GTI rod tipped the scales with 37lb 9oz of skimmers, f1s, roach and tench on maggot at 12 metres.
Gary Mathews (29lb 7oz) was the runner-up with a similar catch and using identical tactics.
JOHN Taylor won the latest Todmorden AS members match on Croft. Using pole and pellet, he tempted 23lb 12oz of carp, which saw off Harry Munro’s challenge. He opted for corn in a 16lb 4oz carp net.
TODMORDEN AS waters are fishing well. Carp nets of more than 50lb on pellet or pop ups are being reported at Portsmouth Reservoir.
Grove Lodge at Littleborough is good for nets of f1s as well as lots of small roach, perch and bream on pole, maggot and pinkies.
Meanwhile, Cliviger fishponds boast ide to 3lb 13oz and plenty of carp on maggot and pellets.
Carp to 10lb are being stocked in several of the Todmorden waters on April 1 and 4.
DAVE Holman topped the Fields Farm Fishery open on the Big Beam lake with a 10lb 14oz net made up of two carp on method feeder and sweetcorn.
Failsworth angler Ken Power (Tri-Cast Highfield) was in second place with 5lb 3oz of silvers on red maggot over groundbait at 11 and 16 metres.
Roger Priestley (Maver NW) topped the Partridge lakes Thursday open match on the Covey Lakes with 63lb 12oz of f1s. He used maggot up against the far bank at 13 metres.
Kevin Gallagher was second-best with 50lb 5oz.
DAZ Shaw, also of Maver NW, was the winner of the Saturday Partridge Lakes open match.
He boasted a 75lb 13oz bag of f1s and a few bonus carp on maggot down the track and down the nearside. Martin Liptrot was second with 44lb 14oz.
ROUND five of the North-West Kings of the Canals League was fished on a brilliant Lancaster Canal.
Paul Robinson showed his class with 12lb 2oz of skimmers taken on worm and maggot at 13 metres.
Alan Crook, in second place, had 9lb 6oz of roach and skimmers taken on bread punch, while Shaun Paddon had 7lb 11oz of skimmers and roach for third.
Ted Carter Preston were the top team with 10 points, with Tri-Cast Rochdale and Wigan MG Green on 11. Overall, Wigan MG Green lead the way with 42 points, followed by Ted Carter Preston on 62.
