Glodwick’s perfect 10

SIMON HARDWICK . . . the Honeywell ‘A’ player recorded a maximum in his side’s 8-2 defeat of Unison ‘A’.
TABLE TENNIS: TEN years at the top is the remarkable record of Glodwick table tennis club.
The club has been crowned Oldham Table Tennis League Division One champions for 10 seasons in a row; as it is mathematically impossible for anyone now to catch them.
Next season’s main competition might come from the Division One young guns representing Saddleworth ‘B’, who enhanced their chances of finishing second after dropping only one set in a 10-0 victory over Honeywell ‘B’.
At the other end of the table, Unison ‘A’ picked up two much-needed points in their defeat to Honeywell ‘A’. Simon Hardwick and Mike McNulty recorded maximums for Honeywell.
Only Seven points separates the bottom four teams.
One point divides the top two sides in Division Two.
Coldhurst had the chance to go top, but could only manage a narrow 6-4 victory at Deaf ‘A’. Simon King recorded his 10th maximum of the season in the contest, and he now has the most wins in the division.
Deaf ‘A’ gained some satisfaction at the end of the evening when Ian Cockcroft and Liaqat Ali combined in the doubles to edge out recent Oldham Closed Championship doubles finalists King and Simon Walsh in the fifth set.
