Method makes match sense for McKendry

Angling: ROB McKendry topped the final match of the Todmorden AS teams of three series, held at Croft and on the Rochdale Canal.
Drawn on peg 22, McKendry opted for the feeder and pole method in a 25lb 7oz net of carp.
Organiser Frank Szakaley was the runner-up, with a pole and corn-tempted 21lb 10oz of carp.
Honours on the Rochdale Canal went to Simon Walton (Matrix Halifax), who had 1lb 11oz of small roach on the pole and bread punch. Team-mate Gary Smith (Matrix Halifax) returned 1lb 7oz of small roach, also using bread.
The next Todmorden AS Trophy match is on Sunday at Croft Fishery, with the club’s members-only away match at Fir Tree Fishery the following Sunday, March 13.
THE turn-out was low for the latest Twingate AC OAP match on the bottom pond — but the top two got among the fish. Winner Peter Hill weighed in 9lb 10oz, with runner-up Tony Simcock (Tight Lines, Shaw) bagging 8lb 8oz.
DOUBLE-FIGURE nets were to the fore in the latest None Go Bye Fishery match. Pete Wilson (Tri-Cast Calder) led the way with 11lb 10oz of silvers, with team-mate Ian Dawson returning 10lb 9oz of silvers for second place.
RAM Hill was in impressive form for the third round of the Shaw Anglers winter league.
Winner Geoff Dawson (Tight Lines, Shaw) topped the weights, with waggler, pole and maggot methods accounting for 10lb 13oz.Team-mate Brian Mayo was close-up in second place with 10lb 10oz, and he was followed by Arron Wilson (Tight Lines, Shaw), who registered 6lb 12oz.
A BREAM of 4lb 6oz made up a big chunk of Nigel Storr’s match-winning weight of 6lb 10z 8drms in the latest Saltaire open match on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. He also added small roach on bread punch.
John Meredith (Tri-Cast Rochdale) was the runner-up with 5lb 11oz, thanks to skimmers and roach on bread punch.
Richard Jackson, of Maver NW, was victorious in the latest Thornhill AC open on the Thornhill Arms of the canal. The venue fished ‘rock-hard’ with only two people breaking the 1lb barrier.
Jackson used bloodworm and bread punch for 2lb 6oz of tiny roach, with his biggest fish of just 1oz.
Keith Marshall was second with 53 fish weighing in at a miserly 1lb 3oz.
