‘Krem’ aiming to rise to the top

BOXING: DELPH welterweight hopeful Andy Kremner is hoping to make significant career progress this year - starting on April 22, when he returns to ring action in Wigan.

Kremner (23) has made a terrific start to his professional boxing career, but by the time he fights an as-yet unchosen opponent it will be six months since his last fight.

‘Krem de la Krem’ nailed a convincing points verdict against Danny Little at Trafford Park’s Victoria Warehouse in October to make it six wins from six as a pro.

In a bid to become more active, Kremner has split from previous manager Mick Marsden and is hoping to sign a deal with Manchester’s hugely successful Steve Wood.

“If I do sign up with Steve, he’ll hopefully get me out much more regularly,” said Kremner. “I need to be more active at this stage of my career, and Steve puts on a lot of great shows.”

Kremner, who still trains under the tutelage of John Murray in Stockport, admits to feeling “bang on” as he gears up for his latest fight.

He added: “Everything is going nice and steady at the moment and I need to make sure I stay on an even keel ahead of bigger tests further down the line.”
