Mossley urged to maintain focus

IT’S simply about keeping the momentum going for Mossley as they continue their quest for a Evo-Stik League Division One North play-off place tomorrow at mid-table Bamber Bridge.

The Lilywhites are four points shy of the top five following the last-minute postponement of last weekend’s home clash against Northwich Victoria.

Mossley have won five and drawn two of their last seven league games, but joint-boss Peter Band is wary of the potential threat his team will face against Bridge.

“They’ve perhaps not got the strength in depth they had earlier in the season,” said Band. “But they’ve definitely got players in their squad capable of punishing you.

“I watched them in the week against Prescot. The game ended 1-1, but it could have been 7-7.

“Our lads just need to stay focused and hopefully that will be enough to see us win.”

Defender Caldon Henson and front man Dougie Carroll won’t be making the trip to Irongate as they continue recovering from injury.

Meanwhile, young midfielder Lee Wilshaw has been allowed to leave Mossley following a lack of first-team opportunities. He has joined New Mills.

THE date for Mossley’s Manchester Premier Cup final clash against Stalybridge Celtic has provisionally been set for April 26. The match will be played at Hyde United’s Ewen Fields stadium. If Mossley reach the league play-offs, the date may be changed.

CHADDERTON, who have lost four out of their last five matches in the North-West Counties League First Division, face a tricky home test against Holker Old Boys tomorrow. The Cumbrian outfit is currently in fifth place and remains firmly among contenders for promotion.
