Mossley in seven heaven
Date published: 15 February 2016
MOSSLEY went on an amazing goal spree as they crushed Evo-Stik League Division One North side New Mills 7-2 at Church Lane.
The Lilywhites always fancied their chances of securing victory against a home side who had pocketed just one point from 25 games so far this term.
But even travelling supporters wouldn’t have imagined their team would have been five goals clear by half-time.
Dave Short, an own-goal by Millers' captain Jack Pritchard and three super strikes from Dougie Carroll had the Lilywhites in cruise control.
The hosts battled back bravely and reduced the arrears thanks to Daniel Douglas-Pringle and Ricky Anane, but late goals from Mossley's Tom Pratt and skipper Andy Keogh wrapped up a totally dominant win
The three points lifted Mossley back to eighth place, a point shy of the play-off places. They return to action tomorrow night with a crunch home clash against third-placed Glossop North End.
CHADDERTON'S inconsistent form in the North-West Counties League First Division continued with a 3-0 defeat at Daisy Hill.
Simon Farrell handed Daisy Hill a half-time lead, before Alex McPolin scored two after the restart to send Chaddy spiralling to another defeat. The local outfit return to action on Saturday with a trip to automatic promotion-chasing Hanley Town.
