Ruthless Rifle shoot down giant-killing hopes

OLDHAM Sunday League Premier Division kings Rifle took little pity on Division Two side Oddies 14 when the sides met in the Challenge Cup.
Paddy McGurk’s men stormed to a 6-2 victory thanks to strikes from Ryan Hobin (two), Niall Sultan, Ryan Fagan, Jonny Munson and Jonny Slicker. Nathan Dawson bagged both goals for Oddies.
Limeside King George crushed Carrion Crow in the battle of the two top-flight sides. Jermaine Steele (two), Tom Heap, Leon Melia, Liam Cashmore, A Stafford and C Robinson netted for King George, while Callum Beckett and L Harrison replied.
In David Giblin Division One, Royton Athletic defeated FC Failsworth 5-3 in the battle of the mid-table sides. Siddall (two), Lockett (two) and Mullen scored for Athletic.
Horseshoe were the big winners in one of four Martin Buckley Division Two games played. They crushed Royton Cricket Club 12-0 with goals from Daniel Jackson (four), Kieran Flanagan (three), Louis Fitton (three) and Callum Maznychenko (two).
White House triumphed 5-2 at Dog and Partridge thanks to a hat-trick from Dylan Ault and further efforts from David Hall and Kieran Glynn. Dean Bratherton and John Benson netted for the Dog.
Third-placed Britannia saw off second-placed Heyrod 4-2 with Shaun Renshaw (three) and Ashley Robinson on the mark. Jordan Howarth struck twice for Heyrod.
Oldham Lions won 4-2 at Oldham XI.
Meanwhile, Coppice United bowed out of the Manchester County Cup competition, 1-0 at home against Vulcan FC.
