Angling: KEN Power is enjoying a purple patch on commercial fisheries, with two wins in the space of a week at Field Farm.
The Tri-Cast Highfield rod kicked off with victory in an open event using red maggot at 14 metres to attract two carp. He then switched to pellet in the deeper water for skimmers for a final tally of 14lb 12oz.
Second-placed Bernard Morris weighed 6lb 3oz thanks to a couple of carp and some small perch on red maggot.
In the latest open match on the venue, Power again dominated. He put 42lb 10oz on the scales, with half-a-dozen carp and some skimmers on the seven-metre pole and pellet. Travel partner Dave Holland, also of Tri-Cast Highfield, was in second place, with the 14-metre pole, corn and pellet combination tempting 41lb 8oz of carp.
THE Wakefield open match on the Calder and Hebble Canal was a peggy affair, due to the river fish having not yet moved into the water this year. Ray Reah, the winner, had 12lb of roach and perch on caster at 12 metres. Brother and organiser Bob Reah was the runner-up with a level 4lb of roach and perch which fell to maggot and caster.
MARTIN Taylor topped the latest of the Northern AA opens on the Rhodeheath length of the Trent and Mersey Canal. Fishing red maggot down the track, the Halifax Matrix rod caught several roach and more than 100 gudgeon for a 4lb 3oz bag.
Team-mate Dave Chadwick was drawn on the favoured end peg and made it pay. He had a second-best 4lb 2oz catch of small roach and gudgeon on caster, maggot and pinkie, but rued dropping a four ounce roach as he swung it in.
PAUL McMillan, of Halifax Matrix, won the latest Saltaire open match on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.
He had a bream first put in and some roach on the long pole and caster for a 5lb 12oz winning net.
Organiser Ricky East (Halifax Matrix) continued his good run on the water with a second-best 3lb 15oz catch made up of 85 roach on pole and bread punch.
PETE Hill was the winner of the latest Twingate AC OAPs match on the bottom lodge. He returned a 7lb 2oz net of silvers on long pole and maggot to deny Tony Simcock, who had 5lb 6oz.
THE next Todmorden AS teams of three match is on Sunday.
