RUGBY: AFTER a waterlogged pitch put paid to last weekend’s contest, hosts Oldham St Anne’s and Myton Warriors try again in round two of the BARLA National Cup on Saturday afternoon.
Saints officials are working overtime to pepare the pitch to ensure the match goes ahead. - they have even brought in a squeegee roller, more commonly used at golf clubs and cricket grounds, to remove water from the Higginshaw Road ground.
Victory for Saints on Saturday will earn them a trip to Thatto Heath Crusaders in round three.
THE spotlight falls on the Napier Windows Standard Challenge Cup on Saturday.
Hathershaw School is the venue as Fitton Hill Bulldogs, from the North-West Men’s League, take on National Conference League outfit Waterhead Warriors in a first-round tie (kick-off 2pm).
HIGGINSHAW conceded a 30-0 defeat as they were unable to raise a team for their visit to Queensbury ‘A’ in Division Three West of the Pennine League. Hollinwood’s home match against Brighouse Rangers fell foul of the wet weather.
