Angling: CHADDERTON angler John Jones topped a star-studded field to win the latest Partridge Lakes open match
The Garbolino Elton rod used maggot in the deeper water down the middle for 75lb 11oz of f1s.
Tameside angler Mike Rogerson (Ashton Angling Supplies) was next best with a similar net of fish weighing in at 65lb 14oz.
CONSIDERING the awful weather, Old Hough Farm Fishery performed well in Saturday’s open event.
Winner Dave Holman was drawn on the favoured end peg, where he employed the method feeder tight over to catch 22lb 4oz of small carp.
Bob Hunt had his back to the wind and made it pay with the 13-metre pole and maggot combination tempting some of the venue’s better carp to weigh in 14lb 10oz.
Ken Potts (Tri-Cast) claimed Old Hough honours 24 hours later with a 23lb 12oz catch on the pole and maggot at 11 metres. Tameside-based Eon Wilson, of Ted Carter Preston, was the runner-up, with the 14-metre pole and 4mm pellet accounting for 12lb 15oz of crucian carp.
ROCHDALE angler Martin Kershaw has enjoyed a fine season. He continued his rich vein of form run with a win in the Wednesday OAP and disabled open match on Partridge lakes. Using maggot down the middle, he tempted 69lb 11oz of f1s, beating Les Steel (55lb 3oz) into second place.
TODMORDEN AS members wanting a good day’s fishing should look no further than Portsmouth Reservoir.
Catches of carp to 100lb are being taken on pellet on the deck as well as popped up bread.
Cliviger fishponds are also fishing well, with bream to 4lb ide to 3lb and roach to 1lb all feeding freely.
The Todmorden AS lengths of the Rochdale Canal are looking good at present, with the Smithybridge area attracting roach, skimmers and perch.

The Todmorden AS Trophy matches restart on Sunday, with other events on February 21 and March 6.
Meanwhile, the next Todmorden AS teams of three open match is on February 14, on Croft and the Rochdale Canal.
