Band: no fixture backlog concerns

NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL: MOSSLEY joint-boss Peter Band isn’t overly concerned about a potential future fixture backlog - despite his side having gone three weeks without a game.

The Lilywhites players have been ticking over nicely in training sessions and behind-closed-doors friendly matches while back-to-back Evo-Stik League Division One North fixtures have been postponed.

“At least me and Lloyd (fellow joint boss Morrison) won’t get sacked, we’re still unbeaten in January,” quipped Band.

“Seriously, though, it’s not a major concern at present because we’ve pretty much played every Saturday until these last couple of weekends. There are teams in and around us in the table who have got more games than us to catch up on.”

One of those sides is Kendal Town, tomorrow’s scheduled opponents at Seel Park. The Cumbrians have FIVE games in hand on Mossley.

Band added: “Kendal haven’t played since December 28 due to postponents. The weather has been particularly bad up there as we all know. Hopefully they will be a bit ring-rusty this weekend.

“We’ve got a fully-fit squad available so Lloyd and I are confident we can secure the victory.”

The weather forecast looks much more favourable at present, so the Seel Park staff are confident that they’ll see some action tomorrow.

CHADDERTON have also gone three weeks without a game in the North-West Counties League First Division. They will hope to blow off a few cobwebs when they travel to take on near neighbours Rochdale Town.
