Derby day delight for Dynamos

FOOTBALL: FAILSWORTH Dynamos soared to the top of the Lancashire Amateur League Premier Division table thanks to a thumping derby victory.
Dynamos finally hit the summit for the first time this season after they crushed neighbours Chaddertonians 6-1 at the Failsworth Soccer Centre.
In Division Two of the Lancashire and Cheshire League, AFC Oldham are up to third place thanks to a well-deserved 4-2 home win against Urmston Sports Club.
Santos were held to a 4-4 home draw by Burnage Metro reserves in Division ‘A’ (see Match of the Day).
ROYTON Town eased up to second place in the FBT Manchester League Premier Division table thanks to a terrific 4-2 victory at Wythenshawe Ams.
Alan Beckett, Wayne Dean, Danny Gilmartin and Grant Marshall provided the fire power for Mark Howard’s in-form Town.
Nathan Eastmond was the hat-trick hero for Springhead as they secured a second straight win, 5-3 at Old Alts. The three points lifted Lee McAllister’s side into fourth spot in the standings.
There’s a top match in prospect tomorrow at Ashfield Crescent, where the eagerly awaited Gilgryst Cup quarter-final between hosts Springhead and Royton Town takes place.
Two in-form teams come face-to-face in front of an expected bumper crowd and, as well as a cracking atmosphere, first class football is almost certainly guaranteed.
