Rangers rattle depleted Higgy

RUGBY: DEPLETED Higginshaw found themselves on the wrong end of a 40-12 scoreline at unbeaten Brighouse Rangers.
Brighouse started brightly in the Pennine League Division Three West top of the table clash, with Steve O’Keefe going over for an early converted try. Higginshaw hit back immediately with a Paul Turner try under the posts which Kiel Lancashire converted.
O’Keefe scampered over for a second try, before forward trio Nicky Barraclough, Terry Moon and Jack Parkinson laid the platform for the elusive Andrew Esmond to score another Brighouse try,
converted by Karl Frankland, to make it 18-6.
Brighouse began to punch holes in the Higginshaw defence as Frankland scored to increase the hosts’
dominance. He converted his own try to make it 24-6.
Rangers’ Jordan Sild scored the final try of the first period after some great work from veteran centre Paul Fairhurst. Frankland’s conversion made it 30-6 at half time.
In the second half Higginshaw started to dominate the game in the forwards, but Brighouse eventually beat down the tiring Higginshaw defence.
HOLLINWOOD’S home game with Emley Moor was postponed due to a frozen pitch.
