OLDHAM Netball Club are riding high in the National Premier League.

With the Reds and Blues defeating Turnford 51-45 and Academy losing to Oaksway, it’s all change at the top of the table.

Starting with a strong seven, featuring Jamaican international Malysha Kelly, Debbie Hallas’s side soon surged into a 4-1 lead at the Oldham Sports Centre.

The month-long break since the last game showed in errors and sloppiness in some of the play, which allowed Turnford to gain a foothold and claim a 6-5 lead. Oldham recovered their composure and held a 14-10 advantage at the first break.

Kelly worked well in the circle with Emma Dovey, making intercepts and turnovers, Gabby Marshall impressed at wing defence and fed some wonderful long balls into Amy Clinton under the post.

The second quarter followed in a similar vein as the first, with flashes of Oldham brilliance helping them to a 27-23 lead at half-time.

Krista Enziano was introduced for the second half, bringing a calming influence to attack. The change worked initially, with Maria McAndrew trading characteristic passes with Enziano for some good shooting opportunities. Kathryn Turner linked up well with the mid-court, while Taylor Cullen turned over some great ball at wing defence.

Leading 39-33 with a quarter remaining, Oldham knew they still had work to do. The final phase of the game was tight, with goals and turnovers traded regularly, but Oldham managed to extend their lead to six goals.

Coach Hallas was happy with the win, although disappointed with the performance.
