King George too strong for Westwood

FOOTBALL: LIMESIDE King George continue to go great guns at the summit of the Oldham Sunday League Jack Abbott Premier Division.
They made it seven wins from seven so far this term as they triumphed 6-1 at Westwood. Jermaine Steele (three), Leon Melia, Liam Cashmore and Wayne Ware scored for King George, while Farhad Chowdhury replied.
Oldham GPO prevailed in their basement battle at Carrion Crow, 2-1. Mike King grabbed both goals for the posties, with Steve Palfreyman replying.
Coby Tyrell, Declan Sandiford and Lewis McCormick netted for Limeside Athletic in a 3-3 draw against Coppice United, for whom Yasir Ali, Naveed Butt and Shez Rashid replied.
Springhead Libs remain in second place in David Giblin Division One thanks to a 4-0 victory at High Crompton Victoria. Daniel Gordon (two), Ben Maher and Jamie Wilson were on the mark.
Leaders Manchester Swifts were held to a 2-2 home draw by FC Failsworth.
Martin Buckley Division Two leaders Heyrod were also held to a 2-2 home draw by Britannia.
Wayne Dean and Jordan Howarth struck for Heyrod, with Ash Robinson and Terrance Melia replying.
Daniel Jackson, Kieran Flanagan, Nathan Maznyczencko and Kyle Townsend registered for Horseshoe in a 4-4 thriller against Oddies 14.
Merv Davies (three) and Ricky Cropper netted for Oddies.
Oldham XI were the big winners of the day, crushing dog and Partridge 15-0. Daron Taylor and Paul Stevenson both grabbed hat-tricks, while also on target were Liam Ure (two), Kieran Thompson (two), Ben Clarke, Paul Mullen, Matt Hamilton, Chris Clarke and James Nuttall.
Nasser Hussain (two), Waseem Hussain and Sufian Bhatti struck for Oldham Lions in a 4-3 win at Royton Cricket Club, for whom Liam Brown’s treble was in vain.
Matthew Chilton (two), Martyn Gurr and Carl Caffrey hit the goals for Top House as they cruised to a 4-0 victory at White House.
