Non-league football: MOSSLEY joint-boss Peter Band has spoken of his disappointment at releasing striker Mitchell Bryant.

Former Reading youngster Bryant left Lilywhites largely due to the disciplinary issues that overshadowed his time at the club. He was suspended for three-quarters of last season following a serious altercation with a referee after being sent-off in a game in September 2014. Recently the red mist had been descending again. Bryant was sent off in consecutive matches last month, compelling the club to act. His contract has been cancelled.

Band said: “It’s a shame for Mitch, but he understood the club’s decision. It’s not as though the two recent reds were for a mis-timed tackle or anything. He retaliated badly on both occasions and would have been looking at another huge ban.

“Opposition teams were getting wind of what he was like and were winding him up. Mitch was then getting himself sent off and it was costing us.”

Ninth-placed Mossley travel to a Farsley Celtic side tomorrow who have lost their last five Evo-Stik League Division One North matches.

CHADDERTON will hope to build on their spectacular midweek victory as they head north to Bacup Borough in the North-West Counties League First Division. Chaddy stunned St Helens Town 6-3 on Wednesday to reach the next stage of the Reusch First Division Cup
