Heyside marching on

FOOTBALL: HIGH-flying Heyside eased to a 5-0 home victory against Holmbridge in Huddersfield League Division One.
Heyside took the lead in the 15th minute when Daniel Dunn set up midfielder Ryan Barnes, who rifled home. Full back Daniel Cashin then stroked home from close range as he met Mark Hopwood’s unselfish pass.
The home side extended their lead on the hour mark when James Leonard slotted home.
Hopwood wasn’t going to be denied either, and for the 12th game in a row he finished well from 15 yards.
Holmbridge tried to offer some resistance on the counter, but Reece Hursthouse and Danny Booth were controlled at the heart of the defence. With 10 minutes to go, Dunn prodded home to make it 5-0.
CHADDERTONIANS secured a 3-3 draw at Howe Bridge Mills in the Lancashire Amateur League Premier Division.
Fellow top-flight side Failsworth Dynamos were in Manchester Amateur Cup action, and they impressed with a 7-0 home win against Urmston Sports Club.
AFC OLDHAM were thumped 7-0 at Parrswood Celtic Reserves in Division Two of the Lancashire and Cheshire League.
THE goals were spread around as Limeside King George roared to a 5-0 win against neighbours Limeside Athletic in the Oldham Sunday League Jack Abbott Premier Division.
Joe Heap, Tom Heap, James Tindall, Liam Cashmore and Leon Melia provided the fire power.
Westwood eased to a 2-0 victory against Oldham GPO courtesy of goals from Abul Hussain and Mokhlisur Rahman.
