HOCKEY: OLDHAM’S Nicola White and her Great Britain team-mates will start their Women’s Hockey World League Finals bid tomorrow in very capable hands.

Modest Danny Kerry was quick to share the praise after being crowned one of the finest sporting coaches in the country on the eve of the prestigious tournament in Argentina.

King’s Lynn-born Team GB chief Kerry (45) became a big winner at the 2015 UK Coaching Awards in Manchester after a stunning year in charge of England and Great Britain’s women’s hockey teams.

“I’m proud to receive the award,” said Kerry, who received the same trophy previously lifted by Sir Alex Ferguson prior to leaving for the World League Finals.

Holcombe star White and her GB team-mates – who have already qualified for next year’s Rio Olympics – get their campaign underway when they face hosts Argentina tomorrow in Pool ‘B’.

They then face China on Sunday at 9.45pm, before rounding off the group stage on Tuesday evening (5.15pm) with a match against Australia. The quarter-finals begin on Thursday.
