HONEYWELL ‘C’, and in particular Dave Cheetham and Stuart Meredith, continued their good form in Division One of the Oldham and District Table Tennis League by upsetting their ‘B’ team 7-3.

Both Cheetham and Meredith notched trebles, while the former combined with Rob Carter to claim the doubles.

Meanwhile, Honeywell ‘A’ had a fine 7-3 win against Birley Moss, with Phil Myers registering a treble.

He was supported by Dave Buckley and Darryl Meredith with two victories each. Kyan Chin replied with a brace for Birley Moss.

In Division Two, high-flying Coldhurst ‘A’ were given a scare at mid-table Stanley Square, but eventually scraped home 6-4.

Glen Chadwick was the main thorn in the Coldhurst side, producing a man-of-the-match show in winning all three of his singles. Glen Dowse was the Square’s other winner.

Simon King and Ken Crimes won two each for Coldhurst.

Simon Collins showed something of a return to form in winning three for second-placed Rosehill in their 7-3 defeat of Unison ‘B’. He was assisted by two good wins for Phil Ashworth, with the pair combining to clinch the doubles.

Honeywell ‘E’ had a tremendous 9-1 success at Unison ‘C’ in Division Three.

The experienced trio of Bernard Davies, Brian Hall and Ken Dunkerley proved too good for the Unison team, for whom Ted Robakowski’s victory was their only reward.

Dunkerley must have slept well that night as all his matches went to a deciding fifth set.

Gilders climbed into second place with a 7-3 win over Hollinwood ‘D’.

Gary Keylock landed a treble, and he backed up by Mark Craven and Martin Nichols (two).

Sekou Soumah (two) and John Foster were on the mark for Hollinwood.

Honeywell ‘F’ and Unison ‘E’ hold sway at the top of Division Four after they both recorded big wins.

Leaders Honeywell inflicted an 8-2 defeat on the Coldhurst ‘C’ team. Peter Ganley was unbeaten, while Lee Rowbotham and John Rutland won two each. Malcolm Wills replied for Coldhurst.

The young Unison ‘E’ team faired even better with a 10-0 win over basement side Pollards ‘C’.

The victorious team consisted of Dragomir Statev, Josh Hudson and man-of-the-match Alex Darlington.

Top-of-the table Owls ‘B’ showed no mercy to their ‘C’ team in Division Five.

They won 10-0, thanks to the efforts of Fred Wood, Gerald Lennox and Andy Robinson.

Ruth Buckley made Wood work hard for his win, which only came at 11-7 in the fifth set.

Second-placed Our Lady’s were held to a 5-5 draw at home to third-in-the-table Deaf ‘C’.

Mark Englander and Michael Fleming won two each for Our Lady’s and combined to claim the doubles.

Dave Renton and Mamad Nejad won two apiece for Deaf, while Malc Normanton won the other singles.
