HIGGINSHAW continued their winning ways in Pennine League Division Three West with a 34–14 victory over Worth Village.

They went in front after 10 minutes through Jamie Mayall, who burst through from 30 metres after Kiel Lancashire split open the defence. Mayall converted.

Worth hit back with a try from full-back Jack Copperwaite, but on the half hour Lee Forsyth intercepted a pass on his 10-metre line and raced 70 metres to score under the posts, Mayall adding the conversion.

With Carl Fields, Steven Perry and Sean Stubbs putting in some big tackles, setting the platform for Forsyth and Lancashire, Higginshaw dominated. They extended their lead when prop forwards Michael Smith and Rhys Wareing linked down the middle to feed Lancashire, who sent in the impressive Fields to score under the posts. Mayall converted again to send Higginshaw into half-time with a healthy 18-4 lead.

Worth produced some pressure after the break, but good defence from Ian Sutton and Chris Yarwood kept them out. Higginshaw gave themselves extra breathing space when Mark Ward and Jack Ujvari combined to send in Wareing for a well-worked which Mayall converted.

Tries by Worth winger Jack Cawood and Copperthwaite, the latter converted by Dale Spencer, reduced the gap to 24-14.

Higginshaw steeled themselves and completed the scoring when a six-man move ended with Omari Eastmond running 50 metres to go over.

Man-of-the-match for Higginsgaw was Fields, followed by Lancashire and Hilton.

But Hollinwood went into the interval with a four-point lead, thanks to a second try from Davies.
