Premier clash is stopped

FOOTBALL: REFEREE Conor Brown was forced to halt the Oldham Sunday League Jack Abbott Premier Division clash between Rifle FC and Westwood at Clayton playing fields.
With Rifle leading 2-1 after 77 minutes, the referee intervened during an altercation between two opposing players and issued red cards to both. The flashpoint came when comments were then made to the referee from the touchline, prompting Brown to abandon the game. The scoreline will stand as enough time had been played.
In the other top-flight game, Limeside King George crushed Oldham GPO 8-2 thanks to strikes from Liam Cashmore (three), Jermaine Steele, Grant Marshall, Tom Heap, Wayne Ware and Warren Berry. M King and D Lomas replied.
In David Giblin Division One, Springhead Libs drew 1-1 with Old Skool, who picked up their first point of the season. Daniel Gordon struck for the Libs. Harris Butt replied.
Britannia enjoyed a terrific 7-0 win against Rochdale Rangers in Martin Buckley Division Two.
On target were Adam Ruddock (two), Shaun Renshaw (two), Dave Shaw, Danny Whittaker and Connor Kerrigan.
Royton CC had Kyle Whitehead on the mark in a 1-1 draw against White House, for whom Gordon Cooke netted.
The rest of the weekend games came in the Manchester County Cup.
Fitton Hill again went goal crazy, sinking Inter Didsbury 8-2 thanks to goals from Ashley Ainsworth (three), Callum Franklin (two), Eden Goldie, Aaron Murdoch and Tieo Coleman.
FC Failsworth thumped FC Greater Manchester 7-0 as Jonny Lambert (two), Ronnie Leighton, Nicky Caine, Lee Bradshaw, Michael Chadderton and Gavin Stokel found the net.
Naveed Butt and Umar Khatab grabbed two goals apiece as Coppice United triumphed 4-2 at Saltmans.
Crown FC won 3-1 at AFC Flixton courtesy of goals from Joe McNamara (two) and J Holden.
Anthony Duffy led the way with a hat-trick as High Crompton Victoria sunk North Reddish 6-2.
Also on the mark were Jack Brocklehurst, Kristian Bocking and Jack Radcliffe.
Manchester Swifts had Shaun Schofield registering in a 1-1 draw at Moorside Social Club.
The Swifts progressed after winning the tie 4-3 on penalties.
But Chaddy Cott lost 5-3 at home to FC Chandos. Chris McDonald, Ryan McConkie and Mark Buckley scored.
