ANGLING: GEORGE White claimed the spoils in the Twingates AC’s OAPs match on the club water, returning two carp and bits for a 11lb 8oz net. Runner-up Pete Hill had two small carp and some bits for 6lb 8oz.
Tommy Smith climbed to first place in the latest Twingates AC OAPs match on the club water.
He had three carp and some bits for a match-winning 6lb 9oz.
MICK Clegg and Ben Summerscales took the plaudits in the Todmorden AS members-only Pairs match.
Summerscales, with 32lb 6oz on Townhouse, and Clegg’s 38lb of silvers on Croft returned four points after each finished runner-up in their respective sections.
The second pair on the day on three points were Rob McKendry (71lb 3oz) and Danny Keenan (28lb 11oz).
KEN Power of Tri-Cast Highfield was the winner of the latest Saturday open match on lengths of the Trent and Mersey Canal at Northwich. Opting for worm down the track, Power caught two big perch of 2lb apiece, before adding smaller specimens for a 10lb total. Second-best Geoff Shaw had 8lb of mostly roach on bread at 11 metres.
THERE was a good turn-out for the first Stuart Campbell Memorial Pairs match on the Wakefield and Thornhill canals. Wakefield was the place to be as that area boasted all the leading weights.
Alan Crook had a great day’s fishing, landing 10lb 10oz of roach and the odd skimmer on pole-fished bread punch to deny Richard East in the race for top spot. East had an 8lb 1oz catch made up of roach on pole and punch tactics.
