In-form Springhead making good progress

FOOTBALL: SPRINGHEAD moved up to second place in the FBT Manchester League Premier Division following a superb 3-1 victory at home to Hindsford.
Springhead took the lead when Joe Heap found Nathan Eastmond, who rounded the goalkeeper before finishing well. ’Head made it two when Heap found Ryan Fagan, who beat his man before finishing brilliantly. Fagan got his second of the game soon after following great work by Eastmond.
Fagan struck a post, before Hindsford grabbed a consolation goal with a minute to go.
It was a disappointing day for Royton Town, who slipped up again, losing 3-1 at home to Wythenshawe Amateurs.
Struggling Uppermill prop up the Premier Division table. They lost 1-0 at home to Manchester Gregorians.
It was derby day in the Manchester FA Challenge Trophy, with Chadderton’s second string edging to a 3-2 victory at Hollinwood.
Avro were knocked out of the competition, 2-0 at home by Curzon Ashton’s second string.
