DARTS:
Mark McGeeney was again the star of the show for Oldham men’s team as they roared to victory against Wigan.
Playing their first Lancashire GMC Elite Super Eights tie at their new home venue, the Blue Club in Chadderton, reigning champions Oldham saw off Wigan 7-3.
Paul McCreevy got the local side off to a 4-1 start with a three-dart average of 77.1 per dart.
Jim Walters won 4-0 courtesy of a 79.15 average, while Dave Rawstron’s 75.1 average also helped him to a whitewash victory.
McGeeney then took to the stage and triumphed 4-2 thanks to a superb 101.99 average, the victory including a classy 154 check-out.
Stuart Harding won 4-1 (90.23 average), Steve Gallimore won 4-2 (79.67) and Paul Phillips triumphed 4-2 (82,98) to wrap up a convincing team triumph.
Oldham are at home in their next fixture in a fortnight’s time, though McGeeney will miss that match as he will be away in Turkey representing England in the World Cup team tournament.
