Depleted Heyside march to another win

FOOTBALL: A REJIGGED Heyside were still too powerful for rock-bottom Holmfirth Town as Geoff Howard’s men won 4-1 in their latest Huddersfield League Division One clash.
Mark Hopwood crashed a shot against the post early on for the injury-hit hosts, but he wasn’t to be denied an opening goal when he fired home Daniel Dunn’s cross. James Leonard blazed a penalty kick over the crossbar, an effort that was punished when Holmfirth equalised with a smart finish past goalkeeper Zack Grimes.
Leonard atoned for his earlier miss by providing a pinpoint cross for Dunn to nod home from close range to give the local side the advantage again. On the stroke of half time, Chris Ollerton gave the visitors a deserved 3-1 lead.
Heyside had to wait until the last minute of the game to wrap up their victory when substitute Rick Headon drove 50 yards down the right before crossing for Hopwood to prod home his second of the afternoon. The local side are now third in the table.
Elsewhere in the top flight, Diggle eased to a 3-2 home victory against Holmbridge.
Division Three action saw Moorside triumph 2-1 at Grange Moor, while Uppermill were thumped 6-2 at home by Lepton Highlanders.
