Home woe for Rangers

SADDLEWORTH Rangers fought hard against Myton Warriors before finally succumbing 44-24 in National Conference League Division One at Shaw Hall Bank Road.
The home side came within half a dozen points of their opponents just before the hour, only to concede three tries in the final quarter.
The entertaining game saw Rangers touch down through Chris Conway in the opening period. Josh Bradbury kicked one of his four converersions. Myton were already 12-0 up at that stage, with Nathan Slater and Lee James going in. Ashley James kicked the goals.
Richard Dunham also bagged a try for the visitors in the first half, which Kris Walker converted. Walker also landed two penalties to hand his side a 22-6 lead at the break.
Another Walker penalty was sandwiched between tries from Matt Fogerty and Tom Robinson as Rangers battled back to 24-18.
Touch downs from Dunham, Wesley Newton and Walker, all converted by Ashley James, gave Myton vital breathing space. Walker also added a penalty. Rangers did go in again through Fogerty, but it wsa too little too late.
OLDHAM St Anne’s suffered a 46-10 defeat at Underbank Rangers in their last away game of the National Conference League season.
Mick Worrall’s side couldn’t be faulted for effort, competing hard throughout the 80 minutes against the tough, fourth-place side.
The hosts ran in four tries in the first half. A Richard Pogson goal and two more from Joel Croker gave them a 22-0 lead.
Saints registered just before half time when Dominic Bryan intercepted on halfway and raced in from 50 yards. Nathan Mason added the conversion.
Within minutes of the restart, Bryan dived over for his second try and at 22-10, Saints, for whom James Shaw, Johnny Kelly and Chris Carter, all showed up well, were back in back in the game.
But Underbank regrouped and took full charge in the final quarter.
