FOOTBALL:
MOSSLEY ended a run of four straight defeats with a 2-2 draw at Ossett Town in the Evo-Stik League Division One North.
There will have been a degree of frustration in the camp having twice thrown away the lead. Michael Thomas fired the visitors into an 11th-minute lead, before Ross Armstrong levelled for Town.
Tom Dean responded with a smart goal to restore Mossley’s lead before half-time, but the hosts’ striker Nathan Curtis struck from the penalty spot to earn his side a share of the spoils.
Mossley return to action with a home game against New Mills tomorrow evening (7.45pm kick-off). The Millers are rooted to the bottom of the table having lost all 10 of their games so far.
CHADDERTON were knocked out of the North-West Counties League Men United Cup at the first round stage in dramatic fashion at Eccleshall.
The game went to penalties after a 3-3 draw, with Eccleshall eventually triumphing 4-3 in the shoot-out. Niall Sultan, Ben Fletcher and James Curley (penalty) had handed the visitors a seemingly unassailable 3-0 lead by the hour mark, but a late hat-trick from Daniel Jones levelled the game for Eccleshall.
Chaddy will hope to bounce back when they host Widnes in the First Division on Saturday.
