FOOTBALL: HEYSIDE made it three wins on the bounce in Huddersfield and District League Division One with a 4-2 defeat of Britannia Sports.
The visitors went ahead when a through ball from left-back Danny Cashin found midfield man Chris Ollerton, who calmly slotted home.
Leading 1-0 at half-time, Heyside then produced a devastating spell of two goals in five minutes, courtesy of former Springhead player Mark Hopwood.
Hopwood missed a good chance to complete his hat-trick before Leonard got in on the act with his sixth goal of the season to calm Heyside’s nerves.
Heyside manager Geoff Howard said: “We played some superb stuff and, though I’m a little disappointed that we allowed them back into the game, I always felt we had another gear.”
Also in Division One, Diggle picked up maximum points with a 2-0 win at Shepley.
CHADDERTONIANS are through to the next stage of the Lancashire Amateur Cup after defeating Ainsworth 3-1.
Meanwhile, Failsworth Dynamos climbed to fifth in the Lancashire Amateur League Premier Division after they crushed North Walkden 7-0. But Dynamos reserves were beaten 3-2 by their Bury GSOB counterparts in Division Three.
