FOOTBALL: MOSSLEY could get a boost from the return of talented front man Dougie Carroll this weekend.
The Lilywhites play host to struggling Prescot Cables in the Evo-Stik League Division One North fixture tomorrow, and joint bosses Peter Band and Lloyd Morrison hope Carroll can make his long-awaited return from injury.
“Dougie missed almost all of last season through injuries,” said Band. “We missed him because he had been great for us the season before when he scored 19 goals.
“He returned to training a couple of weeks ago and he’s looking good now. I think he’ll play some part against Prescot. We need to get back on track. We need to start thinking more about ourselves rather than worrying about the opposition.” Mossley suffered a fourth defeat last weekend, 3-2 at home to Warrington Town.
Having struggled with injuries, Band and Morrison have now dipped into the transfer market by signing centre back Jack Bradley on loan from FC Halifax Town and former Macclesfield Town and Southport midfielder Scott Kay.
CHADDERTON return to North-West Counties League duty tomorrow after being knocked out of the Manchester Premier Cup at Hyde United in midweek.
They host Litherland REMYCA in Division One.
