White House 3, Oddies 14 2
FOOTBALL: WHITE House made it two wins out of two in the Martin Buckley Second Division to underline their transformation as an Oldham Sunday League side.
This is the team that in its first seasonn three years ago went a whole season without a win. And this is the team that could go all the way this season, if the latest victory over a competent Oddies 14 side at Oldham Edge is anything to go by.
All the signs were there from the kick-off as joint White House manager Carl Worrall - ‘Worzel’ to everyone else who knows him - continually instructed his players to keep the ball on the floor.
And they did: in the 17th minute the neatest of four-man moves ended with Danny Connor heading over from the angle of the six-yard box. Connor would have been be disappointed he didn’t hit the target, but Worrall would have been pleased by the slick play.
Such a style was to become the norm for the rest of the match against an Oddies 14 side - no mugs at this level - giving their all and providing plenty of easy-on-the-eye moments.
