Heap at double for King George

FOOTBALL: OLDHAM Sunday League big guns Limeside King George didn’t have things all their own way in their latest Jack Abbott Premier Division fixture.

King George edged out gutsy Westwood 3-2 courtesy of Joe Heap’s double strike and another goal from Jonathan Bond. M Rahman and F Choudhury replied for Westwood.

Crown enjoyed a 5-1 victory against Limeside Athletic thanks to goals from C Eastmond, R Holden (two) and D Mansfield (two). D Shaw scored for Athletic.

Coppice United and Carrion Crow drew 3-3. Umar Khatab, Muzzafar Ali and Naveed Butt registered for Coppice, with Callum Beckett, Lee Kerwin and Tony Lloyd replying.

Manchester Swifts thumped Chaddy Cott 8-3 in David Giblin Division One. D Goodier (four), S Schofield (three) and D Robson netted for the Swifts, while Chris McDonald (two) and Ryan McConkie hit back.

Trente Jones, Curtis Norris and Michael Brooks were on target for Alt Athletic in their 3-0 win at Old Skool.

D Hurst (four), A Hurst and D Lawrence struck for FC Failsworth as they routed Royton Athletic 6-1.

Safwan Alom bagged all three goals for his Springhead Libs side as they saw off Legends of Lees 3-1.

Tom Breza and Jamie Clarke both hit hat-tricks for Oldham XI as they crushed Horseshoe 7-4 in Martin Buckley Division Two. James Nuttall completed the victors’ tally.

Martin Gurr (two), Laurie England (two), Alan Beckitt, Jack Warburton and Clayton Palmer scored for Top House as they hammered Dog and Partridge 7-2. Dean Bratherton and Tom Bee netted for Dog.

Heyrod enjoyed a 3-1 win against Oldham Lions thanks to efforts from Rocky Siddall (two) and Luke Fletcher. Kamran Zamir struck for the Lions.

White House defeated Oddies 14 3-2 (see Match of the Day).



AFC OLDHAM’S impressive start to the new Lancashire and Cheshire League season continued with a 3-2 Division Two win against Staly Lions.

The local outfit are now up to fourth place in the table.

Oldham Victoria are up to second place in Division Three thanks to a brilliant 8-4 victory at Newton Heath reserves.
