IN-form Pete Cuniffe has been celebrating back to back match wins.

The first came in the Medlock Bridge AC open match on the Alexandra Park Lake. Drawn on peg three, Cuniffe fished his usual hemp and caster, catching two decent roach and chub before adding lots of small fish that added up to 5lb 12oz.

Dave Chadwick (Matrix Halifax) is another angler bang in form, and he took second spot with two f1s taken on maggot in the last 30 minutes that bumped his weight up to 3lb 10oz.

Cuniffe’s second win came in the Twingate AC OAP’s match on the club water. This time hemp and caster tempted 4lb 15oz of silvers, beating George White’s 3lb 13oz into second place.

PAUL Booth (Matrix Halifax) took first place in the latest of the Todmorden AS open matches on the Akzo and Dead lengths of the Rochdale Canal. Fishing bread punch, Booth caught steadily throughout the five-hour event to weigh in 4lb 11oz of small roach.

Roger Priestley (Maver NW) was second with 4lb 7oz of small roach that again fell to pole-used bread punch.

Ian Ridgeway has won yet another Todmorden AS match, this one the away event at Heronbrook Fishery. Pole and paste was the telling method that tempted 152lb of small carp.

That beat Chris Lett into second with the only other ‘ton-up’ weight of the match – 109lb – and again it was paste that did the damage.

ROB McKendry was the winner of the latest Todmorden AS trophy match on Townhouse as his pellet waggler tactics worked well for 49lb 11oz of carp.

That was only just enough though as Adam Kitson pushed him hard with pole and pellet tempting 47lb 8oz.

Todmorden AS have scheduled their next committee meeting for September 30 at Todmorden working men’s club (7.30pm start).

The club’s annual meeting takes place on November 11, starting at 7.30pm prompt at the same venue.

OLD Hough farm was a bit peggy for the latest open on Prospect and Lucky Dip Lakes, with Pete Johnson top on lucky dip with his 49lb 12oz catch, which included small carp taken on 16-metre pole, corn and pellet, with a late switch to nearside margins catching plenty of barbel.

Ken Power (Tri-Cast Highfield) took the honours on Prospect with his 32lb 2oz catch of small f1s falling to meat and corn fished tight across.

DRENNAN NW took first place in Sunday’s final match of the Teams of Five League on the Middlewich lengths of Trent and Mersey Canal.

That gave them the title and I have to say they are a really top quality side. Oldham matchman Derek Bowers was an integral part of the squad which topped this competitive league that included outfits such as the Shakespeare Superteam.
