King George go nap on opening weekend

LIMESIDE King George were the big winners on the opening weekend of the new Oldham Sunday League Jack Abbott Premier Division campaign.

King George enjoyed a terrific 5-1 victory at Oldham GPO thanks to strikes from Liam Cashmore (two), Joe Heap, Warren Berry and Wayne Ware. M King replied for the posties.

Fitton Hill triumphed 4-1 at Limesidee Athletic thanks to Kane Radcliffe, Kiean Price and Callum Franklin (two). Jack Lowther scored for Limeside.

Manchester Swifts went goal crazy in David Giblin Division one, hammering new side Old Skool 9-0.

D Goodier led the charge with five goals, while also on target were K Boland (two), S Schofield and S Waldren.

Mark Buckley, Sean Morrow, Ash McKonkie and Ryan McKonkie scored for Chaddy Cott as they beat Royton Athletic 4-2.

Alt Athletic were held to a 1-1 by Springhead Libs. Steve Barrow netted for Alt, with Ben Cullen

replying.

The scheduled Division One clash between High Crompton Victoria and Legends of Lees was postponed as the hosts couldn’t raise a team.

In Martin Buckley Division Two, there was a 10-goal thriller as White House beat Horseshoe 6-4.

Brent Brannick, Sheldon Young (two), Kieran Glynn (two) and David Hall scored for White House, while Daniel Jackson (two), Kyle Tonsend and Louis Fitton replied.



CHADDERTONIANS have moved safely into a mid-table position in the Lancashire Amateur League Premier Division following back-to-back victories.

They followed up a home 1-0 win against Horwich St Mary’s with a 3-2 triumph against Wardle in midweek.

Oldham Hulmeians are up to second place in Division One after picking up two wins on the spin, against Old Blackburnians and Roach Dynamos.
