Angling: DAVE Machin made it two wins on the trot in the latest of the Diggle AC Tuesday night matches on Tanner’s Dam.

Opting for meat on the pole, Machin caught three carp before a switch to pole and maggot tempted 10lb of silvers for a 23lb 13oz net. Dave Chadwick of Matrix Halifax made the frame again, netting second place (18lb 2oz) using his familiar short pole and maggot tactics.

Next Tuesday’s match is the last in the summer series, with the draw at 4pm.

IAN Ridgeway is on a roll, adding to his list of honours with victory in the Bank Holiday Todmorden AS match. Opting for the tip, pole and pellet, Ridgeway enticed big carp in a 67lb bag.

Next-best was Ben Summerscales with a 64lb 15oz catch, while Danny Keenan was third with a 54lb 8oz catch of carp tempted by pellet and the pole.

FRED Prudham was first in the latest of the Medlock Bridge AC open matches on the Park Lake.

Pole-fished maggot tempted some f1s and smaller stamp of the roach and skimmers for a match-winning 8lb 1oz. Second-placed Gary Schofield tipped 7lb 1oz on to the scales, as did Billy Jones, who netted a carp in the final minutes for the same weight.

TYLE Lodge again fished well for the latest of the Socials AC matches. Winner Steve Mills had 23lb 3oz of silvers, while Nick Andrews recorded a 13lb 8oz net for second place.

TODMORDEN AS are running silverfish matches, starting on November 22, through to January next year.

I CAUGHT plenty of small gudgeon before adding four roach to 10 ounces from peg 31 in an open match on the Middlewich lengths of the Trent and Mersey Canal.

Starting with the short pole and pinkie over groundbait, I had a bite a cast for 20 minutes before that swim died. I then moved across on the same bait for some more small fish.

With bites again slowing down, I switched to caster and enticed the four better roach in a final weight of 2lb 11oz 7drams.

Organiser Simon Preece drew the favoured end peg, and made it pay with a brilliant 13lb 12oz of roach and gudgeon. Shaun Paddon (Tri-Cast Highfield) landed a fish every put-in, with gudgeon and dumpy-sized roach making up a second-best 5lb 11oz 6dr.

I ALSO managed a pleasure session on the lorry park length of the Rochdale Canal with Tony Price — and we both attracted roach.

Fishing pinkie over groundbait, I caught a smaller stamp of fish than Price, as his caster over liquidised bread worked well for roach to four ounce. Estimated weights were around the 4lb mark for Price, while I had approaching 3lb.
