GOLF: PAUL Rowbotham and Mark Abbott will be both team-mates and opponents on Sunday.
Knock-out finals day at Werneth sees the two and four handicappers locking horns for the Challenge Trophy, the club’s singles matchplay competition (9.30am). That afternoon they will play in the final of the foursomes against Paul’s son Lee (scr) and James Buckley (six).
That pair are looking to complete a knock-out double as they have already won the fourball
competition — the Hetherington Trophy — after a midweek 3 and 2 success over Michael Farrimond and Mark Routledge.
It was the fifth time the Rowbotham-Buckley pairing had claimed the silverware.Ashton in foursomes.
