CRICKET: IT proved to be a weekend of mixed fortunes for Delph in the Drakes Huddersfield League Premiership.
On Saturday Greg Buckley’s men got the better of Barkisland in a real run-fest. Batting first, Delph scored a tremendous 330 for seven, with Buckley smashing 138 and Chris Laker 55.
In their reply, Barkisland registered 274 for seven as Wasim Qasim took four wickets for 46 and Buckley three for 97.
But Delph couldn’t repeat their heroics as they hosted Hoylandswaine yesterday. Delph were all out for an under-par 178 and Hoylandswaine coasted to victory, losing just three wickets.
WOODHOUSES also pocketed a win and a defeat in the Greene King Lancashire County League.
After seeing off Stretford at Belfields on Saturday, ’Houses then slipped to a two-wicket loss at Woodbank yesterday. Woodbank scored 178 for eight to secure four points after the visitors had scored 177 for seven batting first.
